[Tools, Tips & Tutorials] [MIUI Device Team] How to Calibrate REDMI NOTE 3G Sound Volume W/O Root!!

Greetings MIUIers!

This tutorials will teach you how to increase sound volume for earphones, loudspeaker (rear speaker) and normal speaker (front speaker). You can even calibrate sound volume of your Redmi Note to adapt with your hearing. The best part is, you don't need any Ginseng Root for this! It might take some trial and error to calibrate your sound, so you must have the patience to do it.

Disclaimer: I will not responsible for anything happen to your phone by following this act. To prevent bricking your phone, it is recommended that you read all the thread before calibrating.

So here's the tutorials:

Step 1 - Put Your Engineer Cap On

In your phone app, and dial *#*#3646633#*#* to enter MTK Engineer Mode. Go to Hardware Testing and choose Audio.

Step 2 - Understand the Formulae

In Audio, there are a few options. But for this tutorial, we will only use 3 modes.

  • Normal Mode - Front Speaker for listening to calls
  • Headset Mode - Headphones, Earphones
  • Loudspeaker Mode - Rear Speaker for Media and "Speaker Mode" for calls

You can choose the mode accordingly to calibrate your preferance sound volume. There are a lot of type in each mode. To enhance the overall sound volume, we usually tune SphSph2 and Sip type. You can notice thatSph and Sph2 have the same value for each level.

You can see that the Max Volume for Sph cannot be editted. If you insist to increase the max volume, chooseSip type and increase it.

  • For Normal mode, sound type consists of Sip, Mic, Sph, Sph2, Sid, and Media.
  • For Headset mode, sound type consists of Sip, Mic, FMR, Sph, Sph2, Sid, Media and Matv.
  • For Loudspeaker mode, sound type consists of Ring, Sip, Mic, FMR, Sph, Sph2, Sid, Media and Matv.

Extra info about the types:
  • Mic = microphone receiving sound volume
  • Sid = background noise
  • media = media sound volume
I did not try other type yet, but feel free to acknowledge me what other type do if you know. Thanks in advance!

Step 3 - Calibrating and Testing

Notes before calibrate:
  • Tune one type in one mode per time and test it before going for another. Do not calibrate all at once as you will get confused easily.
  • It is advisable to set Value not more than 250 and Max Vol. not more than 150. Setting them to maximum might spoil your phone speaker or your ears.
  • Sph and Sph2 need to have the same values for each level.
  • Let all values be ascending order in its increasing level. I hope this is a common sense for everyone.

Baby Steps to calibrate on each level:
  • +5 for each level and test the sound volume on respective sound system.
  • If the sound is not loud enough, +1 or +2 for each level again and test it.
  • If the sound is too loud, -2 for each level and test it.
  • Increase and decrease the value until you find the volume is clear from noise and satisfactory.

1) Adjust sound volume when receiving calls

If you think your phone has low sound receiving other calls, you can tune in this mode. My advice is you only need to tune level 6. I bet most of us usually put max volume in call. Oher levels can be ignored as we are less likely using them. For this, we can tune sph and sph2 type by following the baby steps above. Increase the value and Max Vol. in Sip if you are still not satisfied with the maximum sound.

In occasion case which you want to lower your call volume, you can adjust the same value.

The following table shows the default values of each level for sph and sph2 for Normal Mode. Max Vol. is 128for all levels.

Level0123456
Value728096108116124132

The following table shows the default values of each level for sip for Normal Mode. Max Vol. is 128 for all levels.

Level0123456
Value112136160184208232255
2) Adjust speaking sound when calling

There is hardly people complain about speaking sound when calling. But in case there are people complaining that your voice is hardly heard or too loud during calls, you can adjust the value in Mic type in Normal Mode. Note that there are 14 levels of it. My advice is, tune the value to 192 for level 6 to 14 and test it first. If it is still not loud enough, tune the value 14 only with steps above

The following table shows the default values of each level for Mic for Normal Mode. Max Vol. is 128 for all levels.

Level01234567891011121314
Value64112192160192192184184184184184184184184184

p/s: I wonder why level 2 to level 5 are totally messed up too.
3) Adjust headphones sound volume

Headset mode where we can adjust the sound volume for our headphones. You can choose to only change the value of level 6 if your ears are made of steel and always put maximum volume on headset. For normal users, it is advisable to calibrate each level using the baby steps above. Adjust the values in sph and sph2 first. Increase the value and  Max Vol. in Sip if you are still not satisfied with the maximum sound.

The following table shows the default values of each level for sph and sph2 for Headset Mode. Max Vol. is 144for all levels.

Level0123456
Value808896104112120128
The following table shows the default values of each level for sip for Headset Mode. Max Vol. is 144 for all levels.

Level0123456
Value112136160184208232255
4) Adjust Rear Speaker Sound Volume (For Speaker Mode in Calls/Wechat)

This is the speaker used when we use speaker mode while calling or using messanger apps such as Wechat. For this calibration, we choose Loudspeaker Mode and tune it on sph and sph2 type. Follow the baby steps above and tune this. Increase the value and  Max Vol. in Sip if you are still not satisfied with the maximum sound.

The following table shows the default values of each level for sph and sph2 for Loudspeaker Mode. Max Vol. is116 for all levels.

Level0123456
Value48565664728088
The following table shows the default values of each level for Sip for Loudspeaker Mode. Max Vol. is 116 for all levels.

Level0123456
Value112136160184208220240

For reference values, you can look at Ansuman's thread.

Summary

This tutorial is just for references to calibrate your phone sound volume.
I am just sharing my own experience and opinion for this.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in any part of this.
For those who are "adventurous", you can try to discover and play with other type and values.
If you are not really familiar with device,
please do not simply edit other values to prevent bricking your phone.
Hope this tuturial will help!
Enjoy your good sound with your Redmi Note 3G!

Ungu - Bila Tiba

Lirik Lagu Bila Tiba - Ungu

Saat tiba nafas di ujung hela
Mata tinggi tak sanggup bicara
Mulut terkunci tanpa suara

Bila tiba saat berganti dunia
Alam yang sangat jauh berbeda
Siapkah kita menjawab semua
Pertanyaan

Bila nafas akhir berhenti sudah
Jatung hatipun tak berdaya
Hanya menangis tanpa suara
Ooo

Mati tak bisa untuk kau hindari
Tak mungkin bisa engkau lari
Ajalmu pasti menghampiri

Mati tinggal menunggu saat nanti
Kemana kita bisa lari
Kita pastikan mengalami
Mati

Mati tak bisa untuk kau hindari
Tak mungkin bisa engkau lari
Ajalmu pasti menghampiri

Mati tinggal menunggu saat nanti
Kemana kita bisa lari
Kita pastikan mengalami
Mati

Install v4.8.1 Android 4.4.2 Firmware on Honor 3C (H30-U10/H30-T10/H30-T00)

Just as promised! Here’s a detailed step-by-step tutorial on how to flash the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat  firmware (version 4.8.1) on all the variants of Huawei Honor 3C/Glory 3C (H30-T10, H30-U10 and H30-T00), making your entire upgrade procedure a breeze. Just make sure you’ve carefully read the update requirements & precautions twice before actually kicking off the upgrade. So let’s proceed, shall we?
Huawei Honor 3C
Just to make things clear, I should tell you beforehand that this firmware (v4.8.1) is basically a developmental (beta) build that is intended for use by developers and beta-testers on Unicom H30-U10, H30-T10 and H30-T00 versions of Honor 3C in China.
You can install it on your non-Chinese Honor 3C too but as you know it’ll contain bugs, lags, and might cause problems updating when a stable KitKat build officially gets rolled out in your region later. Adventurous users may continue.

Download v4.8.1 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware

To download firmware v4.8.1, please refer to this page: Download v4.8.1 Android 4.4.2 Firmware for Honor 3C (H30-U10/H30-T10/H30-T00). You can verify your phone’s model number in Settings > About Phone.
Note: Your phone should already be running B611, v4.7.1 or v4.7.16 firmware onboard before updating.

Install Firmware 4.8.1 on Huawei Honor 3C

1. Prerequisites

  • A USB cable and latest Huawei USB drivers installed on PC
  • 1-2 GB of empty external microSD card formatted in FAT32
  • At least 60% of remaining battery
  • Since this update will wipe out all the data stored in phone’s internal memory, I’d recommend you to create a backup using Huawei’s native backup utility as it is generally very easy to use.
Disclaimer: This firmware has been fully tested by devs to work on all the variants of Honor 3C (3G-only version). In spite of that, I won’t be held responsible for dead & bricked phones that are rendered unusable at any point during or after the upgrade. You proceed entirely at your own risk!

2. Upgrade Procedure

  1. Download the “EMUI2.3_H30-U10_4.8.1.zip” on your PC.
  2. Connect your Honor 3C to the PC through a USB cable and enable mass storage mode.
  3. Create a new folder named “dload” in the root directory of phone’s SD card.
  4. Extract the “EMUI2.3_H30-U10_4.8.1.zip” package you downloaded earlier. It should give you Update.app file.
  5. Copy “Update.app” file to the “dload” folder in your SD card.
  6. Disconnect the USB cable and turn off the phone.
  7. Reboot into recovery mode by holding Volume Down + Volume Up + Home buttons simultaneously.
  8. The update should now begin automatically. Wait for a few minutes until it gets completed.
  9. Finally, reboot your phone normally and enjoy the OS!
If you encounter any issue during the upgrade, feel free to mention it in the comments section below.

How to Manually Upgrade Huawei Honor 3C to Android 4.4.2 KitKat (v4.7.1) Firmware

Here’s a brief tutorial on manually upgrading your Honor 3C (H30-U10) to the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS update. Once you’ve downloaded the necessary Android 4.4.2 (version 4.7.1) firmware package, you can easily apply it manually using your phone’s stock recovery. Just follow the step-by-step instructions given below.
Huawei Honor 3C Android 4.4.2 Upgrade

Manual Android 4.4.2 Upgrade Method

1. Prerequisites

  • Android 4.4.2 (v4.7.1) upgrade package (Download here)
  • 1GB microSD card with FAT32 formatting
  • A USB cable with latest USB drivers
  • And at least 25% of battery
This update method applies to the H30-U10 variant(s) of Huawei Honor 3C/Glory 3C only. In case there was any misunderstanding, the same tutorial works on H30-T00/H30-T10 variants too, but you’ll have to download the respective update packages from EMUI.
Note: This update will entirely wipe out your phone’s memory while installing. Therefore, you are strongly recommended to backup all your apps, settings, contacts, messages, and other important data before proceeding. This can be done using your phone’s inbuilt Huawei backup utility on a separate microSD card. You can encrypt your data if you want but will require password every time you try to access its contents.

 2. Installation Procedure

  1. Connect your phone to a PC using USB cable
  2. Format your SD card in FAT32 and create a new folder “dload” in its root directory
  3. Extract the ZIP file and copy its contents (“UPDATE.APP”) to the “dload” folder
  4. Disconnect your phone from PC
  5. Reboot into recovery mode by powering off your phone and then holding Volume Down + Volume Up + Power Buttons simultaneously
  6. Within a few seconds, the update process will be automatically initiated. It will take about 3-4 minutes.
  7. When it gets completed, you can use the Backup utility to restore all the data you backed up earlier.

Alternate Method (Easier)

  1. Copy the update contents to your SD card as mentioned earlier
  2. Navigate to Settings > Updates > System Updates
  3. Tap ‘Local Update’, carefully read all the warnings and then perform a quick backup of your device (in case you haven’t done that already)
  4. Next, tap ‘Confirm’ to proceed with the update installation. It shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes.
And whoosh… you’re done! That was damn easy, wasn’t it?
Disclaimer: Do bear this in mind that despite the fact that this method has been fully tested, I shall not be held responsible if your device gets screwed up at any point. Apply this update at you own risk.
Enjoy the chocolaty update!
