Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D

Director: Michael Bay
Writer: Ehren Kruger
Stars: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson

You won’t get the full 3D effect here (assuming that’s even important to you), but you will get to see some new footage from the new 3D trailer that has arrived in theaters for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. You can check it out using the player below.

The folks over at MTV had an opportunity to see some advanced 3D footage from the film, during an onstage discussion featuring Michael Bay and James Cameron (the latter of whom was clearly present to emphasize the importance of doing 3D the “right way”).

Bay revealing that shooting in 3D cost $30 million, both Bay and Cameron lamenting the overuse of last-minute 3D conversion: “It’s a danger for the business,” Cameron said. “We’re abusing it left and right… you can’t wedge [3D] into post production like a sound mix.”

The story for Transformers: Dark of the Moon begins by laying out the “real” backstory behind our rush to land on the moon in 1969. Already being heralded in some quarters as the best of the ‘Transformers’ films to date, what we’re seeing has us cautiously optimistic.

From MTV’s Kara Warner:

I don’t want to spoil it, but let’s just say that something unidentified might have crash-landed on the moon, which prompted the mad dash to get Neil Armstrong and company up there to investigate.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk, John Turturro and Leonard Nimoy.

As we mentioned previously, the film’s release date has been moved up to June 29.
